Woonsocket Polar Express Tickets Going Fast

November seats are filling up for attraction running through Dec. 22.

The last few weekend trips on the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council (BVTC)'s Polar Express tour from One Depot Square are filling up.

The Christmas show on wheels features a trip themed on the best-selling Polar Express storybook by Chris Van Allsburg. The book tells the story of a boy woken on Christmas Eve to find a train has pulled up in front of his house. A conductor steps out and tells him to get on board, and he is treated to a journey to the North Pole.

The story was also adapted into a movie starring Tom Hanks in 2004.

A singer and story teller rides along with the families, waiting to lead them in songs and games. A chef serves hot chocolate and cookies, and the conductor passes through the car to punch souvenir tickets.

Midway through the trip, Santa and Mrs. Claus, ramble through the train and pass out jingle bells to the kids.
