Charter School Proposed in Woonsocket

A charter school has been proposed in Woonsocket.
The Rhode Island Mayoral Academies submitted an application to open the school, which would serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade, the Providence Journal reported.
The principal would be Rosalind Murphy, a former history teacher in Massachusetts, according to the Journal.
About 6,000 students are now enrolled in charter schools.
