Woonsocket Under Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Woonsocket and much of the surrounding area until 8 p.m. tonight.

The NWS calls for areas of fog before noon, a high near 80, and showers, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. with the possibility of heavy rain.

That heavy rain may result in urban and poor drainage flooding as well as flash flooding in the area, The National Weather Service warns.

Officials warn drivers to be wary of pooled water in roads, which can appear deceptively shallow, advising drivers to turn around if a path is blocked by water.
