Thursday Five: Hatch Act, Commission, Race, Register

Have a thrilling Thursday with a look at these things to know:

 

Hatch Act - Today at 11:30 a.m., Rep. Jon Brien (D-Dist. 50), who has launched a write-in campaign following his Sept. 11 primary loss to firefighter Stephen Casey, will host a press conference at at the Pastore Federal Building in Providence to talk about his claim that the primary victor violated the Federal Hatch Act. Budget Commission - The Woonsocket Budget Commission meets today at City Hall, Harris Hall, at 3:30 p.m. to discuss, among other things, a review of City Council resolutions and ordinances, School Department vacancies, and a "School Department Job Description" - the job description for department's Curriculum Director was outstanding at the last meeting, preventing the filling of the job from being approved by the Commission.

Race Against Racism - Don't forget to register for the Race Against Racism 5K during Autumnfest Oct. 7. The entry fee is $25 ahead of time, and $27 the day of the race. 

Register to vote - Oct. 7 is the deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 6 election, and Oct. 16 is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot. This election season voters will also be required to show a voter ID.
