Monday Five: Council & Zoning, Charity, Diner, Blog

Good morning, and welcome to Monday. Here are some things to distract you from...Monday.

Council
- Tonight the Woonsocket City Council meets up at City Hall, 169 Main St., at 7 p.m. They'll consider re-zoning a triangular plot, (Plat 28, Lot 12) bordered by Hamlet Avenue and Davidson Avenue on two sides, and Manville Road on the third side. The plot would be re-zoned from light industrial to mixed-use industrial-commerical (MU2).

The Planning Board recomends a change to MU1, mixed-use residential-commercial instead, in keeping with the city's Comprehensive Plan.

The council will also consider re-zoning (Plat 51, Lot 1) at the corner of Park East Drive and Mendon Road from low-density, single family to light industrial (I-1), and changing Lot 4 at the tip of that plat from passive recreation to light industrial (I-1).

The Planning board reccomends the change with a restriction to Corporate office, wholesale commercial and research and development use only and that it be subject to the Design Review Overlay district.
