Three-building, three story blaze was second call of the day.

The Woonsocket Fire Department responded to their second call in nine hours at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday night, putting out a fire at 272 Front St. by about 10:13 p.m.

Residents of the building remained outside watching at about 11 p.m. as firefighters scoured the interior for any remaining hot spots.

Heather Lawrence, who lived in the building, said she was in her apartment when a woman started yelling that the building was on fire. She asked if the woman had dialed 911, which she hadn't, so Lawrence made the call, knocked on neighbors doors to alert them, and got out.

The residents didn't have much time to make their escape. Raymond Brown said he heard an alarm at about 9:20 p.m., and rushed outside. By the time he got out of the building, there were flames coming out the windows, he said.
