Police Log: Senior Citizen Knocks On Neighbor's Door, Then His Head

This arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Charles Lablond 73, of 727 Front St., Apt. 203, was using a cane when Kelly R. Gagne answered his door Sept. 9 at 5:33 p.m., but when the senior rapped him across the head with it, he seemed pretty able.

A officer was dispatched to the address that night for a report of an assault. Upon arriving, he talked to Gagne, who said that Lablond had knocked on his door. When Gagne opened the door, he saw Lablond standing to the right of him. The older man proceeded to strike his neighbor with a wooden cane on the left side of the head, just above the ear.

The officer observed a 1 and 1/2-inch cut above Gagne's ear that was bleeding, and asked if he needed medical treatment, which Gagne refused. Gagne said he had been threatened by Lablond multiple times, but hadn't done anything to provoke the attack.

When the officer went next door to speak with Lablond, the man said he had some problems with Gagne and so he hit him. At first he denied striking Gagne in the head, but when the officer told him Gagne had a cut there, Lablond said, "I guess I did hit him on the head," according to the report.

Lablond was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony.

this guy is 73 years old, whats next for the police to deal with. Now I can understand the stress on the police. no matter what, its got to take a toll on people after a while, dealing with this type of stupidty.

I love ow biased this story is. They are yet to state what Lablonds reasoning was for hitting Gagne. A world where a man can not stand for his beliefs is not a land of the people nor for the people. 7 billion people on the planet. Food is running out. http://www.forbes.com/sites/afontevecchia/2011/01/13/on-the-verge-of-a-global-food-crisis/ Sadly we need violence and death. If the human race wishes to survive. Maybe the police should do something about the prostitution ring that started on E. School st. Right next to the park. Start at 8pm and ends at 4am. Maybe do something about the homeless that are living out of the park and turning it into a complete dump. As it stands now. There has been a constant raw sewage smell all down E. School st. Emanating from the park. Maybe we could even see a cop come down the street once and a while. Then maybe there wouldn't use condoms all over the parking lots on Hazel st. God forbid the police do something for the people. Of course. If everyone outside of woonsocket see's people from woonsocket as trash... I guess the police expect us to live like trash. I wish this town would just claim bankruptcy.

So...to sum up: Woonsocket has a lot of problems, and the world is at risk of a food shortage in the next few years. Therefore, it should be legal to ring the doorbells of people we don't like and *surprise!* crack them in the head with blunt objects. huh. =/ No, that still sounds insane to me, Jojo.

Jojo - No swearing, please. Feel free to resubmit your thoughts without the four-letter word. And please don't add in any others. Cheers.

Uhoh...I feel like I missed something bad =(
Russell Archambault September 13, 2012 at 08:36 PM
jo jo; I can sure agree with all of your basic thoughts. About the violence and death. too bad its the wrong people causing it to innocent citizens. I do know about the prostitute problems. don't ask for the police to do anything. Its not going to happen. One thing that you are really wrong about is that you think police want us to live like trash. what the police think is that WE all are trash. Just had a problem with them. I was told by one of them that he would no longer help me. refused to take a property damage report. they spent more time trying to get me angry than anything else. the only person that lost was me! came right out and told all 5 of them, the only thing they care about is themselves. they may have alot of stress. Many of them need deep counciling. god bless them for the job they do.
