Police Log: House Guest, Girlfriend Arrested After Host's Jewelry Goes Missing

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A night out with friends for one local man proved one of his companions wasn't trustworthy when household jewelry went missing Sept. 28.

Christopher Pointon and Beverly Dubreil noticed the theft Oct. 13 while they were getting ready for a trip to Twin River Casino, according to a report from The Woonsocket Police Department.

Pointon said he and friends had been out at the City Side drinking Sept. 28 until it closed. He said he invited several friends to his home after, and a number of them made it to his home before he did. Dubreil was out of town at the time.

While they were waiting for Christopher to show up, he said, one of his friends told him that Timothy Berard was trying to convince another man to break in to the house. His friend didn't mention this until he had discovered the theft, he said.

During that evening, only Berard and one other guest went into the upstairs part of the house, Christopher said. More than $5,000 in gold jewelry, including a bracelet, four rings and a necklace, were stolen.

As it so happened, Berard had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Sixth District Court. Police arrested him on the warrant Oct. 15 at 9:45 p.m. at 115 Roland St., and questioned him, learning that he had stolen the jewelry. Berard and his girlfriend, Adrianna Fontaine, 21, who lives at the address, had been working together to sell the jewelry.

Police charged Berard with larceny and also arrested Fontaine, charging her with receiving stolen goods. About $1,000 worth of the jewelry was recovered.
