Man Calls Cops on Thief With Crook's Own Phone

When a local man discovered Shaun McKeage, 25, of 25 Cote Ave., Apt. 1, trying to steal from him at 11:49 p.m. Sept. 15, the alleged thief was in a car.

Unfortunately for McKeage, it was the other man's car, which posed a problem for him when, upon, attempting to escape, the owner blocked him in by leaning on whichever door he tried to exit.

The would-be victim said he'd seen McKeage standing in front of his home on Rutland Ave., and had driven around the block, according to Officer Scott Breguet's report. When the man returned, he noticed the interior light of his parked car was on. The homeowner told officers he'd driven into the driveway and kept McKeage inside the car by pushing on the car's doors when he tried to escape.

McKeage's misfortune continued when at one point during the confrontation, McKeage put his hand, cell phone clutched inside, out, and the man grabbed the phone from him and used it to call 911.

Officers responded to the scene, finding McKeage in possession of various electronics including Iphones and GPS units totaling about $600. Breguet arrested McKeage, charging him with larceny of under $1500, and receiving stolen goods.
