Jeep-Driving Attacker Turns Himself In on Woonsocket Police Vandalism, Intimidation Warrants

On May 6, Woonsocket Police Officer Michael Voyer was patrolling near South Street when he was flagged down by two people in a green 1997 Jeep Cherokee, who told him they'd been assaulted by the driver of another Jeep.

On July 12, Jared Parenteau, 23, of 64 Bellevue Ave., Apt. 2, the suspected attacker, turned himself in to Woonsocket Police, who had two warrants out for his arrest for vandalism and intimidation of a witness.

Shanna Mahoney and Anthony Dubois told Voyer May 5 that they'd been stopped at a red light when another Jeep, black with swears printed on it, driven by a man Woonsocket Police later identified as Parenteau, began to yell at them to pull over. Mahoney, the driver of the first Jeep, ignored him and continued on North Main Street, and Parenteau began throwing bottles at her vehicle. At the Fairmount Street Bridge, the Jeep pulled in front of hers, Mahoney told Voyer, and the driver got out with a bat and began to strike her Jeep, denting the rear driver's side.

Mahoney said the man stopped following them once they reached the Constitution Hill area. Woonsocket Police issued warrants for Parenteau's arrest.
