Heather Abbott Reads to Garvin Students!

Heather Abbott reads to an assembly of third, fourth and fifth grade students at Garvin Memorial School in Cumberland this morning (Monday). Abbott kicked off the school’s “Reading Week” program, which invites local celebrities to read a book to various classes. She read a book called “Courage” and answered questions from the students about her experiences resulting from last year’s Boston Marathon Bombings.

Abbott was one of many spectators hurt from the bombings. She lost her left leg below the knee as a result. However, through months of rehab and with the use of a prosthetic leg, Abbott has persevered through the tragedy. Today, she is an inspiration to those who were affected by those day’s events.
