'THE FIRST OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR THE ROBOCOP REBOOT ARRIVES...'

The official trailer for the 'RoboCop' reboot is finally upon us. After months of on-set teasing its great to be able to clap eyes on exactly how this redo will be presented. Redoing any classic cult flick especially from the 80's is more often than not a difficult task indeed and in all honesty. Some will say that the original, as being as classic as it already is, doesn't need to be rebooted.  But after watching the trailer, I've no doubt that its a good thing.
Sure it reboots the franchise, but it also carries on the previous elements that made the first 'Robocop' what it was. For a reboot of a classic movie to succeed, it needs to be able to harken back tot he original source material and to keep some of it in place.

'The Killing' star Joel Kinnaman plonks on the metallic helmet this time around and will follow in the footsteps of the original Alex Murphy role filled by the excellent Peter Weller ('Star Trek Into Darkness') back in 1987. Brazilian filmmaker José Padilha ('Elite Squad') directs and the flick will receive a February 2014 release.

"In RoboCop the year is 2029, and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe, and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes its remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before."

The impressive supporting cast for the reboot also stars Gary Oldman ('The Dark Knight Rises'), Michael Keaton ('Beetlejuice'), Samuel L. Jackson ('The Avengers'), Jackie Earle Haley ('A Nightmare on Elm Street'), Jay Baruchel ('The End of the World'), Abbie Cornish ('Sucker Punch'), Michael Kenneth Williams ('Boardwalk Empire') and Marianne Jean-Baptiste ('The Cell'

I am including a lick to the trailer for you to view and to make up your own mind. Please feel free to leave comments on what you think about the new 'Robocop'.
