‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′ Gets an Official Title

It seems that Walt Disney Pictures intends to release a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie – starring Johnny Depp as the rascally Jack Sparrow – in time to compete during the cutthroat Summer 2015.
In order to freshen things up, the Mouse House recruited a new writer for Pirates 5 to take over from Ted Eliott and Terry Rossio – who penned the second, third and fourth Pirates flicks, after having co-written the first chapter. 

As such, I can confirm that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is called… Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

This is the first Pirates movie subtitle to explicitly reference an element of the original Disney theme park attraction that inspired the franchise to begin with; yet, at the same time, the fifth movie’s subtitle is perhaps even more enigmatic than the fourth movie’s subtitle, On Stranger Tides.

Dead Men Tell No Tales, by comparison, doesn’t exactly offer any clues about the plot, beyond the implication that Sparrow could be confronted with the reality of his inevitable death.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens in theaters on July 10th, 2015.
