Bernon Heights Elementary Open House Features Intro to New Principal, Barbecue

Sports, jewelry raffle will raise funds for new playground.

Bernon Heights Elementary School will open its doors for parents and students Monday, Aug. 26  from 5 to 7 p.m. for their 2013-2014 Open House.

The event will kick off at the school at 657 Logee St. with a barbeque for students, parents and teachers. After the barbeque, parents and students will meet with Robert Picard, the school’s new principal, as well as their child’s teacher for the upcoming school year. Parents and students will be able to learn about events and fundraisers planned over the next few months, and sign up to volunteer for the school’s upcoming playground build on Sept. 28.

The Playground Committee will also hold a raffle of several sports and jewelry items, including a football signed by New England Patriots Defensive End Jake Bequette, a signed photo of Red Sox Catcher Ryan Lavarnway, four tickets to the Red Sox/Blue Jays game on September 22 and a trio of Alex and Ani bracelets. Raffle tickets will be 2 for $5 or 5 tickets for $10.

All proceeds will go to the Playground Fund. Parents will also be able to meet representatives from several local school groups, including the Bernon Heights Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Improvement Team (SIT) and learn about the many resources available to them.
