Cat Sanctuary Clambake - ON Sept. 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $7 is good for a bowl of chowder and six clam cakes provided by Mickey G.'s to benefit the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary on the side of the Cornerstone Building on Clinton Street.
Luau tonight - The sole remaining fundraiser leading up to the city's 125th birthday block party Aug. 29, the Social Ocean Luau at Christopher's Restaurant, an outdoor pig roast and island party, is tonight at Christopher’s Restaurant from 6 to 9:30 p.m. $10 gets you in the door. Food Bank Needs Help - The St. James Episcopal Church's Prescott Beach Food Bank at 24 Hamlet Ave. is in need of bars of soap, as well as any canned or boxed food items you can donate. Find a good sale or thin out your cupboard and help them stock up. Call the church at 401-762-2222 or bring items to the Food Bank during their hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m.
B'nai Israel Open House - On Sunday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m.-noon, Congregation B'nai Israel will be holding an Open House for interested families and individuals. Congregation B'nai Israel serves the area's Jewish community with a variety of religious, cultural, and social activities. Race Against Racism volunteers sought - Volunteers are needed for YWCA Race Against Racism at Autumnfest. Many opportunities are available to support the 5K run/walk on Oct. 13 from 7 to 11 a.m.
