RI Health Department Begins Hearings on Landmark Sale Tuesday

The Project Review Committee-I of the Health Services Council's review of Prime Healthcare's application to buy Landmark Medical Center begins tomorrow on Capitol Hill.

The meeting will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island Department of Health, Department Operations Center (Lower Level), 3 Capitol Hill, Providence, Rhode Island. The RI Department of Health has posted the agenda on their website.

A formal review started July 1 and will last 90 days. The applications are available for review in Room 410 of the Rhode Island Department of Health and are available for download online.

Prime''s application, which the RI Attorney General's Office and Department of Health ruled incomplete for months, was labeled complete in late June days after a public plea from Mayor Leo Fontaine for Governor Lincoln Chafee's intervention. The public request prompted a tersely worded reply from the Attorney General's office, and a statement that the process would not be hurried. Regulators deemed Prime's application complete three days later.

Written comments on the application may be submitted via email to: Valentina.Adamova@health.ri.gov by July 31, 2013. People who require alternative methods of submitting comments may call 401-222-2788.
