City Man Trekked From Woonsocket To Woonsocket

Hiker completes Rhode Island to South Dakota trip

Bill Fagan finished a 1,700 mile trek by foot from his native Woonsocket to the South Dakota city of the same name yesterday, greeted by fanfare as he finished the final strides of his cross-state hike.

The endurance feat made headlines on both ends of his trip, in the Woonsocket Call, and on KDLT in the Mount Rushmore State.

The Woonsocket Call reports Fagan's been working on finishing the trek for four years, and that he didn't expect a lot of attention when he arrived.

The cheers and applause he received in the KDLT video, then, must have been quite a surprise.

Was there a specific reason?

this guy should have taken a plane ride to woonsocket south dakota, could have gotten there in about 8 hours. i wonder how this four years of walking was paid for ??? all i know some of us have to work to get money!!!

Lets think about this. 1700 miles walked in 1460 days, is just a little over a mile a day. to walk a mile even if someone walked slow, would only take less than an hour. What am I not understanding here. and what is this reporting purpose?
