Share Snapshots, Trash Delayed, Clear Those Hydrants

Share snapshots - If you're planning to build a snowman, go sledding with the kids, or firing up the snow blowers to clear your driveway, you can share your photos with Woonsocket Patch.

Trash delay - Due to the short holiday week, and Tuesday's snowstorm, the trash and recycling pickup schedule has been adjusted accordingly:

  • Tuesday’s route is scheduled for Wednesday Jan. 22  will be collected on Thursday Jan. 23.
  • Wednesday’s route scheduled for Thursday Jan. 23, will be collected on Friday, Jan. 24.
  • Thursday’s route scheduled for Friday Jan. 24, will be collected on Saturday Jan. 25.
  • Friday’s route schedule for Saturday Jan. 25,  will be collected Monday January 27th

Collection Monday, Jan. 27 through Friday, Jan. 31  will be delayed by one day.

Officials ask that all collection carts (City serviced and privately serviced) be brought back into the property and placed back out on the appropriate collection day.

Clear nearby hydrants - If you know there's a fire hydrant nearby your home that's still covered in snow, it would be a good idea for you to clear it, or at least mark it so the fire department can clear it later. 

Nixle - If you haven't already, don't forget to sign up for the city's alert system through the Woonsocket Police Department on Nixle, which sends word of parking bans and traffic advisories straight to smart phones and computers, 

Ghost Army - Now through Jan. 31, the Museum of Work & Culture, in conjunction with the BVTC, present a special Ghost Army Exhibit, at the Museum, located at Market Square in Woonsocket. See special interpretive display telling true story of city's connection to a secret World War II mission. Information at Rhode Island Historical Society website.
