Button Update, Last Chance for Adopt-A-Family

Autumnfest Button Update - WNRI's Jeff Gamache reports the $200 Autumnfest Buton prize has been claimed by Marie Harnois. 

They're still looking for the trip winner. A new number for that prize has been drawn: 1362.

DO NOT throw away your buttons until all prizes are claimed. New winners will be drawn each Monday at 4pm on 1380 WNRI until all prizes are claimed.

Adopt-A-Family Deadline Friday
 - Application sessions are held at Family Resources Community Action, 55 Main St.,  Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 pm, Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am, and Thursdays from 4-7 pm. 

For the last 30 years the charity has been providing Christmas to city children who wouldn't otherwise get to enjoy a tree with giftsand stockings. Low-income families with children born between Jan. 1, 2001 and time of application who live in Woonsocket are invited to apply.  Applications are not accepted from families living outside of Woonsocket. 

Copies of applications are available at FRCA’s reception desk at 245 Main Street or at 55 Main Street. The application period for the Adopt-A-Family program ends Nov. 15. Late applications cannot be accepted.

Free Vaccination Clinic - Woonsocket Emergency Management Agency is sponsoring a free public TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) Flu and Pneumococcal vaccination clinic on Wednesday Nov. 20, at Woonsocket High School, 777 Cass Ave, 5-8 p.m.:

  • FLU: Protects against seasonal flu for ages 6 months and older
  • TDAP: Protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) For ages 11 and older (especially for those in contact with infants)
  • PNEUMOCCAL: Protects against pneumonia, for all adults 19 and older
There is no out of pocket cost for these vaccinations. If you have any questions about vaccines, visit the Rhode Island Department of Health’s website http://www.health.ri.gov/immunization/.  If you have questions about the free clinic, contact Timothy Walsh, Woonsocket EMA Director, at 401-765-2500, ext. 6660.

Service Fridays - The third Friday of each month from10 a.m.to 4 p.m. is "Service Friday" for the NWBRV team. AmeriCorps VISTA's will lead staff, youth, and community volunteers in a service project a month to improve the community at-large. Holiday trash pickup - Residents are reminded that curbside pick-up of trash, recycling and yard waste from Nov. 11 through Nov. 15 will be delayed by one day.
