Police Log: Burrillville Men Arrested With 'Green Leafy Substance'

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two Burrillville men heading home after a night out at a local bar found themselves under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana.

An officer monitoring downtown traffic early Thursday morning saw their car leave the lot at City Side at a high rate of speed. He stopped the vehicle on the Main Street Bridge, and another officer arrived to assist him.

When the officer approached the car, he allegedly smelled alcohol on the breath of driver Christopher J. Keegan, 23, of 144 Round Top Road, Harrisville. When questioned, Keegan said he'd had a couple of drinks at City Side, and was heading home.

The other officer checked for warrants and found one for the car's passenger, Corey Hodson, 23, of 266 Centennial St., Pascoag. He told
Hodson to get out of the car, and then searched him. In a side pocket of
Hodson's jeans, police allegedly found a plastic bag containing a "green
leafy substance." They arrested him and put him in the backseat of a cruiser.

The officers then told Keegan to step out of the car, and searched him as well. They found more of the green leafy substance. The officers then gave Keegan a roadside sobriety test, which included having him walk a straight line. Keegan allegedly stumbled and used his arms for balance.

AT the police station, Keegan took a breathalyzer test, which allegedly revealed his blood alcohol content to be .256, well above the .08 legal limit for driving.

Keegan also faces charges of driving while under the nfluence of alcohol and possession of marijuana while driving.

Arrest refreshed his memory

Luis Antonio Colon, 41, a Woonsocket man with no permanent address, was arrested on a charge of obstructing an officer after he allegedly gave police a false name.

An officer was dispatched to a River Street address at 2:51 a.m. Friday to investigate a call concerning an unwanted man banging on a door. There the officer found a man turning the door knob and knocking. When questioned, the man allegedly said he has been staying with someone on the second floor. He gave several names of people who supposedly lived there, but the officer could not find them listed on the mailbox. When questioned again, the man said he had never actually spent the night there, but hoped someone would let him in.

When asked his name, the man allegedly replied "Jose Antonio." He repeated the name several times. Another officer then arrived. They asked several times if the man used any other names. Each time he replied "Jose Antonio" or "Jose Colon." The officers then handcuffed the man and told him he would be taken to the police station to be identified.

"You want my real name?" the man then allegedly said. "It's Luis." The
officers then took him to the station, where he was placed him in a cell.
