Police Log: Belligerent and Disorderly

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Orlando Gomez, 27, of Lawrence, MA., was arrested on Jan. 22 for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after officers responded to reports of two men breaking a car window. Two Hispanic men reported fled in a white Chevy Blazer, which officers found on Paradis Avenue.

The passenger, later identified as Gomez, ran from the SUV to the front porch of a nearby house, where he began yelling and kicking the door, according to reports. He appeared to be “highly intoxicated and agitated,” yelling at officers in Spanish. Gomez reportedly swore several times at the officers and repeatedly let his legs go limp, falling into the snow, as they tried to escort him back to their car, forcing them to drag him to the cruiser.

Gomez continued to act in an aggressive manner, and again let his legs go limp while officers tried to put him in the backseat. He fell to the ground, smashing his face on the snow-covered pavement, according to reports. Once inside the car, Gomez reported smashed his head repeatedly into the plexiglass divider and the bars on the windows. After being peppered sprayed, Gomez seemed to become even more agitated, continuing to kick the cruiser door all the way to the station. His belligerent behavior continued in the police station when he refused eye treatment for the spray, continually let his legs go limp, and repeatedlt banged his head against the wall. Even inside a cell, Gomez continued to act up, officers report, charging the cell door several times as if trying to break through it. After finally calming down, officers brought Gomez to the hospital for treatment.
