Woonsocket Police Arrest Man Hanging Out On Middle School Roof

Villanova Middle School may be a good spot to watch storms approaching the city, as long as you also want to see what the inside of the Woonsocket Police Station is like.

Kyle Lanctot, 19, of 111 Harrison Ave., Apt. 1st, learned that when he climbed to the roof of the Middle School June 27 at about 2:40 p.m., according to a police report.

Officer Mitchel J. Voyer responded to the school that afternoon in response to a call reporting someone on the roof of the building. When he arrived, he spotted a man wearing camouflage pants walking on the ground near the building, and stopped him and asked if he'd been up on the building's roof.

Lanctot said he had. He said he'd been up there, "Watching the storm come in."

Since an interest in the meteorological isn't license to scale public property, Voyer arrested Lanctot, charging him with trespassing, and transported him to Woonsocket Police Headquarters for processing. He was released with a Sixth District Court summons to appear on the charge on July 11.
