Woonsocket Police were called to the intersection of Rathbun Street and George Street June 3 at about 8 a.m. for a report of car crash with injuries, receiving word en-route that the occupants of one of the cars had left on foot. When officer Taylor-Rae Monfils arrived at the scene, she discovered that both vehicles were empty, but that the vehicle struck, a black 2002 Honda, had been parked at the time of the crash. While assessing the scene, Monfils received a call from officers who had located the the two people fleeing the scene, one of whom was a pregnant woman with a leg injury. Woonsocket Police, DEA continue investigation into trafficking of new synthetic drug linked to 12 deaths in Northern RI.
Woonsocket Police locked down several schools near Elm Street last week to apprehend Joshua Rojas, 19, suspected of intimidating a witness in a WPD-DEA investigation into trafficking of an illegal synthetic opiate, Fentanyl Acetyl. Fentanyl Acetyl is a synthetic opiate with properties similar to morphine, according to Dara Chadwick, spokesperson at the RI Department of Health. The Medical Examiner's office has attributed the substance to 12 deaths between March and May of 2013. The substance is formally known as acetanilide, n-1-phenethyl-4-piperidyl, a chemical variant, or "analog" of fentanyl. It can be referred to as acetyl fentanyl or fentanyl acetyl analog. Man police have charged with killing Donna Pike due back in court April 25.
Brian Audette, 43, of 307 Elm St., Warwick, the man charged with murdering Donna Pike, 57, appeared in Sixth District Court Thursday for a determination of attorney, where he was assigned a public defender. Attorney Mary S. McElroy will defend Audette, who is being held without bail and will next show in court on April 25 for a probation violation hearing. At the time of his arrest, Audette was serving 12 years probation for a 1999 first degree robbery conviction, according to Amy Kempe, public information officer for Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office. Should he fail to defend himself on that violation, he could be ordered to serve the balance of his sentence (12 years) before the process is begun on hearing the murder charge …

When Woonsocket Police officer Jason Berthelette caught up with James Lambert, 23, of 44 Oak St., apt. 3RDF outside the Our Pad bar on River Street April 13, the assault suspect admitted the crime. "I hope I put him in the hospital," James said, according to Berthelette's report. As it happened, the victim, Joshua DaSilva, 20, was on his way to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries to his head and neck after being beaten and by James and his brother, Christopher Lambert, 21, at the second floor apartment of James's ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Sepulveda 19, also at 44 Oak St., according to Sepulveda and DaSilva. More than $5,000 was taken from store by the duo between March 18 and April 1.
A Wooonsocket Sears employee and her boyfriend face felony larceny and conspiracy charges respectively for stealing more than $5,000 in batteries, tires and equipment from the store's auto department between March 23 and April 1. On April 1 at 10:50 p.m., Woonsocket Police were called to the store at 1500 Diamond Hill Road by the company's loss prevention officer for a shoplifting investigation. While en route, dispatch advised officers the suspected theif was still in a green Saturn parked outside the building, according to officer David Bibeault's report. WPD, Woonsocket Education Department issue alert about repeated indecent exposure reports.
The Woonsocket Police Department is seeking information about a man who has exposed himself to children walking to Kevin Coleman Elementary School four times since the start of school, including yesterday morning. The WPD and Woonsocket Education Department issued an alert this morning about the incidents, the last of which occurred Thursday at 9 a.m., according to Woonsocket Police Detective Jamie Paone, public information officer for the department. Three girls walking to school together reported a driver had exposed himself to them as he drove alongside them on the road. Charles Perry, 20, of Providence, wanted in connection to two home invasion robberies and considered armed and dangerous, turned himself in to Woonsocket Police April 3. Woonsocket Police arrested Perry, charging him with burglary, first degree robbery, and conspiracy. Perry also faces several other charges from Burrillville Police. Concerned callers led Woonsocket Police Officer Gabriel Koneczny to an erratic driver March 30, resulting in one Woonsocket man's arrest for DUI. At about 10:10 p.m., Koneczny responded to reports to the department that a green Toyota Highlander was "all over the road" in the area of South Main Street. One caller reported seeing the driver on Cumberland Street turning onto Cass Avenue traveling on the wrong side of the street. Koneczny found the vehicle on Wood Avenue, traveling in the middle of the road, and used his cruiser's lights to pull the driver over. The Toyota pulled to the shoulder of the road but continued another 200 feet before finally coming to a stop, according to his report. Koneczny and another officer approached the …

Woonsocket Police Officer Andrew Girard found three men, a red Kia, a baseball bat and three large, broken glass windows when he responded to 28 Monument Square outside Stadium Theatre March 30 at 4:30 a.m., for a report of a disturbance. One of the men near the Kia, which was parked in the middle of the street, was bleeding from his face. All three were arguing when police arrived, according to Girard's report. Girard spoke with Jarod Hamel, 19, of 120 Lucille St., Woonsocket, who said he had parked the Kia in the center of the street to attempt to get dirt out of his shoes. Woonsocket Police Officer Gabriel Koneczny suspected the driver of a green 1996 Ford of drinking too much after watching the car drift over the center line on North Main Street on March 22 at about 9:18 p.m. He didn't have to wait long to have his suspicions confirmed. David Brin, 56, of 70 Blackstone St., had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to Koneczy's report. Brin told Berthelette that he had had a long week and hadn't gone out all week. He told Berthelette he had drank rum and shots all night and had "...too much to be driving," according to the report.
