Woonsocket Patch asked voters who they supported for president, and why.
The election is over, and while the majority of Woonsocket voters sided with President Barack Obama (Obama: 7,978, Romney: 4,111) with a 64 percent majority, not all did, and the outcome continues to draw comments on Woonsocket Patch. Today, we've got a few opinions on each side of the Romney/Obama question from election day with faces to match, including one charming nonagenarian voter (We're featuring her photo for that, not because she voted for Obama): At Crepeau Court Nov. 6, Bertha Julevich, accompanied by her son, Mark, was out to cast her vote for Obama. The following information was provided by the Office of the Secretary of State. Secretary of State Ralph A. Mollis is reminding Woonsocket voters they have until Saturday to register to vote in the April 24 presidential primary. Woonsocket elections officials have made arrangements for residents to register at the Harris Library in Woonsocket from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, Mollis will register voters at his Providence office at 148 West River St. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s deadline isn’t just targeted at first-time voters, but voters who have moved or changed their names since the last time they voted to update their information. “Four years ago voters turned out in record numbers. While politically inclined RI residents can't vote in Tuesday's N.H. Republican primary, here at Patch, we don't think it's right that our friends up north have all the January fun. We want to know: who would you vote for? The Republican race for a presidential candidate is heating up. The New Hampshire primary is under way and the caucus in Iowa slimmed down the potential Presidential nominations with Michele Bachmann dropping out of the race after getting just 5 percent of the vote (6,073 ballots). Mitt Romney took the caucus with a needle-thin win over Rick Santorum, gathering just eight more ballots. People like Obama because he is an excellent public speaker...that's it. He will keep the poor, poor....and the rich, rich..he wants you to think he's helping you, he's just full of fluff..no substance. I work and he certainly hasn't helped me. If you don't work, he'll keep you unemployed, and keep paying welfare recipients, because all of a sudden, they get out to vote now. Never did before...…   more ›
