Claire L. Rancourt, 78: St. Joseph and St. Agatha Seniors Clubs Member

Woonsocket native, longtime Manville resident died May 7.

  Claire L. Rancourt, 78, of Manville, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. She was the loving wife of Paul R. Rancourt. They were married on Sept. 17, 1955. Born in Woonsocket, Claire was a daughter of the late Joseph and Diana (Sarazin) Durand. She resided in Manville for over 50 years. Claire was employed at Cadillac Textile and later in the office at the Holiday in Manville and the Manville Video. She was a member of the St. Joseph and St. Agatha senior citizens clubs. Woonsocket man passed away Saturday, April 27.

  Walter E. St. Sauveur, 77, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Woonsocket Health Center,  with his loving family by his side.  He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Claudette Y. (Gravel) St. Sauveur. Born in Woonsocket in January of 1936, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Valentine E. (Vivequin) St. Sauveur. He was a devoted son and spent nearly his entire life living in the same neighbourhood, purchasing a home for his family near to his own parents. As a young man, he was known as "Elvis". A car and motorcycle enthusiast, he was known to put on his leather jacket and ride his Harley all the way to New York just to drink a cup of coffee and ride home again. Normand L. Lapierre: WWII Army Air Corps Vet, Traveler, Woodworker

Woonsocket native died Wednesday, April 24 at The Friendly Home.

  Normand L. Lapierre, 91, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday evening at The Friendly Home, according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. He was the husband of the late Marthe L. (Vigeant) Lapierre. Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Alexandre and Georgina (Dupre) Lapierre. He was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Lapierre served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a member of the 46th Bomb Fighter Squadron. He received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Mr. Lapierre was employed at Slater Dye, Argonne Worsted, Pratt-Whitney Corp. for many years and also worked at Tupperware before retiring in 1984. A longtime parishioner of St. …

  Claire D. Metivier, 76, of Woonsocket, died Thursday at Landmark Medical Center,according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. Born in Manville, she was a daughter of the late John and Dora (Gagnon) Metivier. She was raised in Manville and resided in Woonsocket for over 60 years. Claire enjoyed playing bingo and being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She is survived by a sister Rita R. L’Esperance, and her husband Raymond, of Woonsocket and her nieces and nephew Lisa Lyons, Lori Mullins, Linda Peterson, Michael L’Esperance and Cindy L’Esperance.   Helene H. Salois, 84, of North Smithfield, died Friday at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence, according to Menard-Lacouture funeral home. She was the wife of the late Walter E. J. Salois, who died in 1979. Born in Paris, France she was a daughter of the late Gaston Quainon and Henriette H. Podevin. She was raised in Paris and went to work at an early age. She lived through the German occupation of France and was witness to the historic liberation of France by Allied Forces in 1944. It was during WWII that Helene was courted by Walter Salois, an American soldier of French-Canadian ancestry from Woonsocket, Rhode Island.   Mark E. Lambert, 38, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday at Landmark Medical Center with his family at his side, according to the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Linda A. (Zatonsky) Lambert and the late Ernest R. Lambert. He was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket and a graduate of Woonsocket High School, Class of 1993. Mark worked alongside his dad at the family business the former Lambert’s Liquors on Hamlet Ave. He was also the manager of Altered Images Tattoo studio for many years.   Emilia C. Dufresne, 93, of First Ave., Woonsocket died Friday at Landmark Medical Center, according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. Born in Wrentham, she was a daughter of the late Francois and Cecile (Charpentier) Dufresne. She lived in Woonsocket for most of her life and also resided in Manville for several years. Emilia was employed at Owens-Corning Fiberglass Corporation for over 30 years until retiring in 1982. Emilia was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was the loving husband of Bernadette (Lessard) Roux, according to Menard-Lacouture funeral home. Ray and Bernadette celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 2.
