CVS, RI Free Clinic Partnership Provides Free Prescriptions For Uninsured

Clinic patients now able to fill prescriptions at three local CVS/pharmacy locations at no cost.

  CVS Caremark and the Rhode Island Free Clinic have announced a partnership to help the uninsured, working poor in Rhode Island get access to the vital medications they need. Through this collaboration, the Clinic’s patients can get prescriptions filled at no cost, and can receive quality face-to-face pharmacist counseling at three CVS/pharmacy locations in the Greater Providence area.   “We are so appreciative of this invaluable partnership with CVS Caremark,” said Marie Ghazal, chief executive officer of the Rhode Island Free Clinic. “We provide free, comprehensive health care to approximately 2,000 uninsured Rhode Islanders each year, and this partnership will provide them with increased access and expert counsel for the medications …

CVS Caremark Surprises Women & Infants Hospital with Check for $97,000

  Representatives of Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island were pleasantly surprised on Tuesday when CVS Caremark colleagues showed up at their doorstep with a check for $97,000 from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, a private foundation created by CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE: CVS.) Area Nonprofits Celebrate Success of the 2011 CVS Caremark Charity Classic

Holiday songs and cheer filled the air at CVS Caremark’s corporate headquarters this week as 64 nonprofit organizations received a much-needed boost from funds generated by the 2011 CVS Caremark Charity Classic. The tournament, Rhode Island’s largest charitable sporting event, raised nearly $1.2 million this year for charities across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, bringing the total funds raised since its inception to more than $15 million. 2011 CVS Caremark Downtown 5K Raises $75,000 for Charity

Funds awarded to youth-focused nonprofit organizations and schools from Southern New England during CVS Caremark’s 12-year sponsorship of race reaches $1.3 million.

CVS Caremark Downtown 5K celebrated the race's 22nd anniversary at a dinner ceremony Tuesday, presenting approximately $75,000 in grants to nearly 50 youth-focused nonprofit organizations and schools from Southern New England, including $500 grants for physical education programs at Woonsocket High School and Mount St. Charles Academy. More than 150 youths and adults – including track and field coaches, student runners, and representatives from area nonprofit organizations – convened in Woonsocket at the CVS Caremark Customer Support Center for the special celebration. The CVS Caremark All Kids Can Patriots Day held at Gillette Stadium last week gave kids from ages 5 to 17 a unique opportunity to learn and play with New England Patriot alumni during a fun day on the gridiron. CVS Donates $1 Million To Children's Hospital Boston

10-year-old Evan Williams and his family gathered at Fenway Park in Boston Monday to mark $1 million in donations to Children's Hospital Boston by CVS Caremark. The funds donated to the hospital come from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust foundation and the CVS Caremark All Kids Can program dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and their families. The celebration took place on the field at Fenway just prior to the Boston Red Sox/Baltimore Orioles game. Evan, an avid Boston Red Sox fan, is a Children’s Hospital Boston patient with cerebral palsy. Evan threw out the first pitch prior to Monday night’s game. Cosby To Lead CVS /Pharmacy

Former president of Macy's to takeover company's retail division.

CVS Caremark announced this week that Mark S. Cosby has been named President of its pharmacy division, and will lead all aspects of the company's retail business including more than 7,200 retail stores in 41 states, beginning in October of this year. Headquartered in Woonsocket, CVS is one of the largest pharmacy chains in the United States. Cosby, 52, most recently served as Macy's president of stores where he was responsible for all Macy's store operations and support functions nationwide.
