Woonsocket Police report a man they stopped early New Year's morning for driving the wrong way on Social Street had alcohol as well as a poor sense of direction working against him while navigating city streets. Officers stopped Patrick Lima, 27, 149 Lowden St., Pawtucket, at 84 Social St., for driving his gray 2006 Pontiac the wrong way on the one-way road at 1:54 a.m. Lima told officers that he was unfamiliar with local roads, according to the report, and had just left a music gig at Ciro's Tavern, headed home. As Officer Jason L. Berthelette was speaking with Lima, he noticed an odor of alcohol on his breath, according to his report. On Sunday, Dec. 9, at 9:29 p.m., Woonsocket Police repsonded to Wood Avenue for a domestic disturbance to find four people who told them two women there, Cheryl Cacciato and Louise Lapierre (later identified as Louise Romano) had just had a minor argument, according to a police report. All the occupants assured officer David Bibeault there was no need for police to intervene. Before leaving the scene, Bibeault ran background checks on all four occupants of the apartment, discovering a man there, John Morin, 47, of 51 Wood Ave., apt. 2 right, was wanted on a Superior Court bench warrant. On Aug. 8 at 3 p.m., Woonsocket Police responded to 48 Cold Spring Place for a call about two BMX bicycles that had been stolen. Officers spoke with Benito Cudjo, who said two bikes, a Blue 20-inch Mongoose Tony Hawk BMX worth $85 and a silver/red 20-inch Mongoose BMX worth $85, had been stolen from his home where they had been padlocked. Police took his information and left. At 4 p.m., police received another call From Cudjo, who said he had recovered the bikes from a man and a woman, Christine Morales, whom he had found riding them. Call for disturbance leads to arrest of Christy Lynn Cote, 31.
A call for a possible domestic disturbance that led Woonsocket Police to the corner of Second Avenue and Short Avenue might have ended without incident had it not been for the outstanding warrant on the woman, Christy Lynn Cote, 31, of 78 Oak St., Apt. 2. Her attempt to avoid arrest by giving police a false name, subsequent active resistance of arrest, and possession of marijuana did not improve matters. On July 6 at 12:05 a.m., police responded to the area of Fairmount Street and Third Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance. Search of car for ID revealed drugs, needles.
On Jun 27 at 3:26 a.m., Woonsocket Police responded to McDonald's parking lot at 1500 Diamond Hill Road to assist emergency responders with an unresponsive woman slumped over the steering wheel of her car. Once at the location they spoke with EMS personnel, who had found Shannon Gero, 26, of 24 Old Birch St., Franklin, MA, in the drivers seat of her car, having trouble with fine motor skills. An officer looked inside the car for ID and saw a needle in plain view, and a purse, which he picked up to check for the woman's license. Underneath the purse was a bag with a brown powdery substance, later identified as heroin. Officers searched the rest of the vehicle, finding several more bags. Man admits to taking goods stolen from home June 14.
On Wednesday, June 27 at 12:51 p.m., Garibaldi Santiago, 22, of 390 Mineral Spring Road, Apt. 2nd, Pawtucket, walked into Woonsocket Police Headquarters on Clinton St. to turn himself in for receiving stolen goods, jewelry, totalling about $2,772. Santiago said he was turning himself in because he believed there was a warrant out for his arrest. Police report that though Santiago was a suspect in a recent robbery, there was not a warrant for his arrest. Santiago said that he had recently met a man on Elm Street after he was done with work at a barber shop on that street. Passenger nabbed, police still searching for driver.
A twisting car chase from Logee Street to Prospect Street speeding up to 80 mph resulted in the passenger's arrest on conspiracy charges Tuesday. Woonsocket Police are still searching for the driver. At about 12:26 early Tuesday morning, Patrol Officer Daniel Lajoie observed a silver Chrysler sedan traveling north on Knight Street run a stop sign at Logee Street. Lajoie followed in his cruiser as the car turned west on Grove Street from there, again ignoring the stop sign. At this point, the driver of the sedan rapidly accelerated, and LaJoie put on his lights and sirens, following the car as it sped at 60 mph through a 25 mph zone.
