Claim in Anthony Lescarbeau's Death Alleges Officers Acted On Misinformation

Officials unable to comment as investigation continues, lawyer doesn't elaborate.

  The claim filed by attorney Ronald J. Resmini on behalf of the three minor children of Anthony Lescarbeau alleges Woonsocket Police acted on misinformation while pursuing the 33-year-old after he fled a traffic stop June 14, ending in a fatal crash. The claim, which Resmini has stated says the Woonsocket Police didn't follow the department's pursuit policy, asserts that the officers involved in the chase were provided with misinformation, "...resulting in actions above and beyond the standard..." (see copy of the claim attached to this article). Resmini has not elaborated on that part of the claim, failing to return calls seeking comment on what the misinformation was and how it's relevant to his suit. The RI Attorney General's office is…

Police Log: Roommate Assaults Fellow Renter Over Noise

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  John Albert Trites, 48, of 34 Burnside Ave., apt. 3R, was arrested Nov. 26 at about 6:37 p.m. for getting  physical over a disagreement about noise his roommates were making, throwing a man against a wall and denting it with his head.   On Nov. 25 at about 4:15 p.m., Babacar Seck visited the Woonsocket Police Department on Clinton Street to report that Trites, his roommate, had entered the room he shares with his wife while they were listening to music and drinking, and told them to be quiet the previous evening. Seck refused, he said, and Trites responded by grabbing him with both hands around the throat and pushing the back of his head into a plaster wall. Woonsocket Police Bringing Back Recognition Awards

WPD To recognize departmental, community members for valor, citizenship, achievement.

  After an absence of more then a decade, the Woonsocket Police Department is about to restore its Departmental Recognition Awards.  Eligible police officers and civilian employees could receive awards for officer of the year, educational achievement, physical fitness, life saving, merit and valor among others. In addition to recognizing employees, the police department will offer two community awards.  One will be for citizen of the year and the other, organization of the year.  For the citizen award, consideration will be given to a person who has worked in partnership with the police department providing a significant contribution to the enhancement of the community’s quality of life.  Some factors for the award could include leadership…

Police Log: Wallet Swiper Turns It In Posing As Good Samaritan

  Maybe James Peter Dionne of 154 Pond St., apt. 3FL, had an attack of conscience after he took Paul Gadoury's wallet at the Burger King on Social Street at 9:25 a.m. Oct. 20. But when Dionne turned in the wallet at Woonsocket Police Headquarters at 11 a.m., saying he had found the wallet, he failed to mention he had found it on the counter at Burger King seconds after Gadoury put it there. Dionne also failed to mention that he had grabbed the wallet, left the restaurant and walked away quickly. When Officer Enrique Sosa responded to the scene, Gadoury said a man matching Dionne's description had been standing behind him in line at Burger King and saw Dionne put his wallet down. Police Log: Man Arrested After Attacking Girlfriend's Father With Knife

Woonsocket Police arrested Michael Smith, 21, of  816 Bernon St., apt. 2, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. after he tried attacking his girlfriend's father with a knife during an argument. At about 1:29 p.m., Woonsocket police officers responded for a domestic disturbance to 816 Bernon St., apt. 2, where Smith and his girfriend, Rondelle Hadrick, 21 and her father Joseph Hadrick, 60, share an apartment. When police arrived, a witness pointed them down the street, where Smith and Rondelle were walking. Police caught up to the couple and asked what had happened. Rondelle said the couple had been staying in her father's apartment for several months. She said she and Smith began to argue, and her father attempted to break it up, causing Smith to argue with …

Woonsocket Police Arrest Two Scrapping Stolen Air Conditioners

Investigation of air conditioners' theft from Walmart leads to Johnston scrap yard, charges for four men.

  Woonsocket Police investigating the April 24 theft of 30 air conditioners from the Diamond Hill WalMart building followed a Woonsocket man and Johnston man to a Johnston scrap yard Oct. 11, arresting them in possession of more than $1,600 in metal tables and items from the Broaster House Restaurant. Woonsocket Public Information Officer Det. Jamie Paone said the Broaster House owners were unaware the items had been stolen until police discovered them. She said they were taken after they had been put out for Autumnfest. The WalMart building at 1919 Diamond Hill Road has been vacant since the store moved over the line into North Smithfield in Sept. 2011. Police Log: Trio Of Women Rescue Friend From Domestic Assault

  Friends will tell you they have your back, but one woman on Cumberland Street knows it's the truth with three of her friends.  On Oct. 2, at about 7:30 p.m., Woonsocket Police patrolman Thomas Duncan responded to an apartment house on Cumberland Street for a report of a domestic assault.  Once there, he spoke with Tamonda Barr, who said she picked up her cousin at the market and dropped her off at home in the building earlier that day. Moments later, she said, she received a call from her cousin's boyfriend, Jamil Skinner 22, of 200 Gordon Ave., Apt. 24 , who was upset about the trip to the market and yelling. Woonsocket Fire Department Puts Out Fire On Fairmount Street

Call came in at about 9:30 a.m. this morning, BCI checking out scene.

  Update 3:08 p.m.: The Woonsocket Fire Department was called to a fire with smoke showing at 317 Fairmount Street this morning at about 9:30 a.m., according to the Woonsocket Fire Marshal's office. When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming out of the building. The fire was put out within 20 minutes at about 9:50 a.m. The incident caused heavy damage to the building's first floor. Fire companies were still at the scene at 11:45 a.m. The Providence Canteen fire and rehab unit, which is also on site, has posted a photo from the fire scene. Police Det. Police Log: Man Comes To Sister's Aid, Takes Punch To Face

  On Oct. 2 at 8:46 p.m. Woonsocket Police Officer Andrew Broccoli responded to an Arnold Street address for a report of a woman with a child being held against her will. Once at the location, Broccoli met up with a man, Raul Roman Jr., who said the father of his sister's child, Misael Alicea, 21 of 123 Arnold St., apt. 2 had just punched him in the face. Broccoli observed a red, swelling mark on Raul's face. The man said he had used OC spray in his defense, for which he had a permit. Raul said he was speaking with his sister while on the way to pick her up when he noticed she was crying. She said her boyfriend, Alicea, had taken her car keys and was not letting her leave.
