Fourth Arrest Made in String of Bomb Threats at Woonsocket High School

A fourteen-year-old girl is the latest arrest in the continuing investigation.

  Woonsocket Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl in connection with the recent string of bomb threats at Woonosocket High School during the last two weeks. Woonsocket Police announced this afternoon that the girl, a WHS student, was arrested and is being charged with making a bomb threat and conspiracy. The girl joins fellow WHS students Khalil Oliver, 18, and two other juveniles, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, who have also been charged with a count each of making a bomb threat in a public building and conspiracy, felonies, according to Public Information Officer Det. Jamie Paone. Paone said police made the arrest after following leads from students over the past week.  The charges carry a possible 10-year sentence for each…

Woonsocket Police Receive $1,051 In HIDTA Forfeiture Funds

Funds distributed to local agencies April 18.

  A three-year investigation by the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA has yielded $110,670 in forfeiture funds distributed to area law enforcement agencies, including $1,051.64 for the Woonsocket Police Department. The Woonsocket Police Department is one of several local law enforcement agencies that comprise the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA). The total forfeiture was $158,001. By statute, the Attorney General and Department of Health receive a portion ($47,400.30).  Thre remainder, $110,670.70, was spilt among each agency on the task force. Update: Shots Not Fired at Police, Firefighters

The gunshot officers heard was a suicide victim's self-inflicted wound.

Initial reports that Woonsocket police officers and firefighters were under fire this morning turned out to be false, the Woonsocket Police Department announced. Gunfire the officers heard turned out to be a suicide victim's final act. Officers and firefighters were responding to 38 Memorial Drive because of reports of a suicidal person when a shot rang out just from 10 a.m., according to police department spokeswoman Det. Jamie Paone. But no one actually shot at officers or firefighters, as initial reports indicated, Paone said. The shot was the suicide victims self-inflicted wound, she said.

Police Investigating Possible Murder

Officers are investigating the death of a Woonsocket woman as a homicide.

Woonsocket Police are investigating a possible murder in the city, the department announced Tuesday afternoon. Woonsocket Police were called to 79 Rathbun St. Apt. 3 to check the condition of the tenant Monday at about 7:30 p.m., according to a release Monday. Officers found Donna Pike, 57, dead in her home. Pike’s death is being treated as a homicide and the investigation is ongoing. Check back with Patch for more information as it becomes available.

Worcester Man Charged In Saturday's Fairmount Street Bridge Shooting

Victim, shot four times, in stable condition. Woonsocket Police continuing to investigate.

  Woonsocket Police have charged a Worcester man with attempted murder in the Saturday night shooting of a man on Fairmount Street Bridge. Wooonsocket Police Public Information Officer Det. Jamie Paone reported this morning that officers have arrested Christian Rosado, 25, of 14 Orne St. apt. 3, Worcester, MA, in the case, charging him with with assault with intent to commit murder, assault with intent to commit felony, and firing in a compact area.   According to a release from Paone, Woonsocket Police officers responded to the area of Fairmount Street Bridge March 30 for reports of shots fired and a man lying in the road. Police Log: Man Arrested After Domestic Assault, Vandalism

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  Marley Davies-Calhoun, 22, of 17 Miller Lane, apt. 2nd, turned himself in at Woonsocket Police Headquarters, 242 Clinton St., Jan. 22, a day after attacking his girlfriend and attempting to break into the apartment she was staying in. On Jan. 21, officers responded to the home the woman was staying at with their children at about 8:30 p.m. for a vandalism complaint. The woman said Davies-Calhoun visited her and attempted to get her to return with him as they talked in a bedroom with their children present, according to Officer Gregory Klocek's report. When she refused, he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against a wall. The woman said she agreed to leave with him, and he relented, walking to the apartment's front door and outside…

Police Log: Woonsocket High Students Arrested For Marijuana Possession

  Woonsocket Police arrested two Woonsocket High School students for possession of marijuana Jan. 24 at about 3 p.m. after receiving a report of an odor of marijuana in the boys restroom. When Officer Michael Theroux arrived at the school, he spoke with Christine Brennan, who said a student had notified her the boys restroom smelled like marijuana. She said she and a male staff member entered the restroom together to confirm the odor, then checked the hall pass list, finding three students who were in the halls at that time: Nicholas Caterino, 18, a 17-year-old, and a 14-year-old. All three were removed from their classes and questioned. Each student produced a bag of what appeared to be marijuana, and Caterino also produced a bong, but …

Police Log: Driver Runs Stop Sign With Pot, Cocaine, Knives, Expired License

  If you're going to drive around without a valid driver's license carrying two illegal knives, with marijuana in the console and cocaine in the trunk, you should probably pay special attention to stop signs. But on Jan. 25 at 12:25 a.m., Officer Jason Berthelette saw the 2001 blue Chevy Impala driven by Josue Hernandez, 21, of 146 Burrington St., fail to stop at the intersection of Harris Avenue and pulled him over. According to Berthelette's report, Hernandez told him his license was suspended. A search of Hernandez found two knives, one measuring three and one-eighths inches and the other measuring three and one-half inches, both illegal lengths.  An search of Hernandez's vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana in the center console, a …

Police Log: Man Charged With Jan. 1 Hit And Run Of Woman

  Woonsocket Police report a driver's failure to stop after striking a pedestrian with his car Jan. 1 earned him a felony charge on Jan. 17. At about 1:54 a.m. Jan. 1, Officer Christopher M. Bouvier responded to 233 Second Ave. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. When he arrived, Katelynn Dethsouvanh, 17, was lying on the front porch at the address, concious but crying, he reported. She and the group told Bouvier that a car had struck her as she crossed the street and left the area.  The girl's boyfriend described the car as dark colored with a loud muffler. Dethsouvanh was transported to RI Hospital, where she was initially diagnosed with a broken arm and other possible broken bones.  One of the people in the …

Police Log: Man Arrested For Firing BB Gun From Second Floor Apartment

  Ibrahim Rompy Medina, 25, of 100 Robinson St., apt. 6, would've been smart to abstain from target practice within city limits, since it's illegal and he wasn't invisible to his neighbors. Police responded to his apartment building at about 7:43 p.m. Dec. 2 for a report of someone firing a BB gun off a second floor balcony. They spoke with a woman who said that as she was taking out the trash with her son, she heard multiple BB gun shots from above, looked up and saw Medina firing into the trees nearby. The woman said the yelled up at him, "What the hell are you doing?" and went inside with her son.  Police spoke with two other people in the building who confirmed the story, and then knocked on Medina's door.
