Excluding a drive in the game’s final five minutes, Woonsocket doesn’t even get into the red zone in a 49-0 lose to Cumberland in the Division II Super Bowl.
EAST GREENWICH – Cumberland took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, a 21-0 lead at half time, and finished the game with four second half interceptions in a 49-0 Division II Super Bowl win against Woonsocket. Woonsocket struggled on both ends of the ball, in both halves. Brett Bouchard threw four interceptions in the second half, as Woonsocket was forced to go to the air to try to come back from the 21-0 hole. In contrast, Cumberland scored a touchdown on all but one of its possessions. Even on that possession, Cumberland went for and missed a 24-yard field goal, after a goal line stand by Woonsocket. The Clippers did their damage on the ground and in the air. Running back Erik Travers was named game MVP and led Cumberland in rushing, …

Cumberland won last year 35 - 6, breaking Woonsocket's four-year streak.
Woonsocket (7-2, 5-2 Division II-A) takes on Cumberland (8-1, 7-0 Division II-B) 10 a.m. Thanksgiving at Tucker Field, although both teams might be eschewing the traditional rivalry a bit for tactical reasons. Both teams remain alive in the Division II playoffs, and they’re both favored against their respective opponents, Central (4-5, 4-3 Division II-B) and West Warwick (7-3, 4-3 Division II-B). Cumberland is the top-seed in the playoffs after Central upset Johnston 21-20 in overtime in the opening round. Woonsocket beat St. Ray’s 29-28 in overtime. If both teams win their playoff games on Nov. 27, then a Thanksgiving rematch will occur quickly, at the Division II Super Bowl. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see how hard the two teams…

Top seven remain unchanged, Woonsocket game against Titans offers chance at advancing.
Inaction is the new action, as the top seven remain unchanged in the Rhode Island Sports Media Football Poll, after a weekend of mostly winning. Woonsocket (4-2, 2-2 Division II-A) slipped a spot in the polls, from No. 14 to No. 15. The Villa Novans didn’t play this past weekend, but the teams behind them won, forcing them down. However, they’ll have a good chance at moving up, since they play at Toll Gate 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Titans are 0-4 in Division II-A play, 1-6 overall, and they’ve been outscored by 150 points in seven games. No. 3 Cranston East lost, but it was to Hendricken, and while they lost a first place vote and about 25 points in the polls, it wasn’t enough to drop below No. 4 Portsmouth. No. 7 Barrington lost to Tolman…
