KINGSTON – Despite a game-high 26 from Nikola Malesevic, the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team struggled on offense in their season opener against Norfolk State, losing 67-55. The Rams shot just 28.3 percent from the field and 63.3 percent from the line en route to the loss. Without much height on the roster, URI continually struggled to work the ball inside, and instead had to settle for jumpers. In contrast, Norfolk State expanded its lead in the second half thanks to the work of seven-footer Brandon Goode. Although he only had 13 points, Goode used his size to force Rhody guards to alter their shots, and he finished with 13 rebounds.
