Red Ribbon Week Voting Now Open

National Home Decoration Contest promotes drug abuse prevention.

  The National Family Partnership (NFP) announced today that voting for its national contest for the 27th Annual Red Ribbon Week has begun. The online voting period was extended by a week to Nov. 10-24, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. In 1985 after the murder of a DEA agent, parents, youth and teachers in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs.  This year, families can get involved by entering a contest to promote awareness in their neighborhoods and win a drug prevention grant for their schools. The odds of winning are good because families can …

Red Ribbon Week Contest Deadline Extended To Nov. 10

Hurricane Sandy prompts extension of submission date.

  The National Family Partnership (NFP) announced today that the national contest for its 27th annual Red Ribbon Week has been extended one more week, due to Hurricane Sandy.  This means parents and students nationwide have more time to enter the contest (the original entry deadline was Nov. 2). The online voting period has also been extended by a week, and is now rescheduled for Nov. 10-24. Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country.
