State Trooper Log: Arson Parolee Fails Drug Test, Arrests For Court Scofflaws

Detective Bureau Man on parole for 1983 arson arrested for failing drug test On Feb. 11, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested James Grundy, 51, of 95 Rathbun St., Woonsocket as a parole violator after he failed a drug test. Grundy was convicted on a 1983 charge of arson, death resulting, brought by the Providence Police in 1989. He was serving 15 years probation at the time of his arrest, according to RI State Police Maj. Michael Winquist.  Grundy was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and turned over to officials at the Adult Correctional Institutions.   Scituate barracks: Troopers catch up with man failing to appear on pot charge At 2:35 p.m., Feb. 6 Troopers arrested Jamel Alvarez, age 20, of 223 Front St. Woonsocket, RI for: 1) Fugitive From Justice, 2) Sixth District Division Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear/Ability to Pay on the original charge of Possession of Marijuana from the Cumberland Police Department, 3) Obstruction of a Police Officer, and 4) Resisting Arrest. State Police Task Force Nabs Woonsocket Man on Heroin Delivery Charges

HIDTA seizes ninety-three grams of heroin, scales, packaging material.

  The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested a Woonsocket man in a heroin distribution operation Wednesday as a result of an undercover investigation. During November, Task Force members received information from the Franklin, Massachusetts Police Department and Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement about a man running a heroin distribution operation in Woonsocket, Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police, announced.  A Task Force member, acting undercover, was able to make contact with the target and purchase heroin from him on several occasions. Trooper Log: Traffic Stop Corrals Sex Offender Supervision Scofflaw

  Wickford Barracks: Troopers arrest man for sex offender supervision violations At 11:14 a.m. Dec. 30, Troopers arrested Michael Dorego, 36, of 233 Second St., Woonsocket, on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Violation of Community Supervision (for Sex Offense Against a Child – Fondling) originating out of the Rhode Island State Police Department of Corrections Detective Division. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 South, in the City of Warwick, in which Dorego was the passenger. State Police report Dorego failed to notify his parole officer of his earlier arrest by Groton, CT police. State Police Arrest Third Man In Alex & Ani Bracelet Thefts

Providence man joins two Woonsocket men on list of suspects.

  RI State Police have arrested a third suspect in the recent thefts of Alex and Ani bracelets during the manufacturing process. Detectives have charged Paul Winfield, 34, of 51 Barstow St. in Providence with Larceny over $1,500. He joins Manuel Pagan, 27, of 104 Sayles St., Apt. 106, Woonsocket and Hector Bonilla, 26, of 104 Sayles St., Apt. 407, Woonsocket in the list of suspects related to the thefts. On Monday, State Police detectives received information from a plating vendor used by the manufacturers of Alex and Ani jewelry indicating an employee of the vendor was stealing the popular bracelets. Men Trade Stolen Alex and Ani Bracelets for Handcuffs after Cops Respond to their Craigslist Ad

The bracelets had not yet been released to the public but the two suspects allegedly had them listed for sale on craigslist.

On craigslist, you'll find used cars, old toys and all sorts of assorted, occasionally weird stuff for sale. But you wouldn't expect to find Alex and Ani bracelets that hadn't been released to the public yet. But detectives out of the Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit did find the bracelets on the classified ad Web site and responded to the ad. They met with a man, identified as Manuel Pagan, 27, of 104 Sayles St., Apt. 106, Woonsocket, who was offering unfinished, unreleased bracelets for sale "at a substantially below-market value," said Col. Steven G. O'Donnell, superintendent of the state police in a release.  "Detectives were able to quickly determine that the bracelets were stolen," O'Donnell said. Detectives soon …
