A Guide To Main Street Parking
Wojcik: Places to stow your car not as scarce as some may think.
"I would never open a business on Main Street," remarked Councilman Roger Jalette during the Dec. 3 City Council meeting, saying there isn't enough parking on the street. While there is a municipal lot across from City Hall and another lot across from the Woonsocket Call building and on-street parking, "People would be surprised at the total amount of parking available to service Main Street," said Economic Development Director Matt Wojcik this week. Wojcik said the city should be doing a better job of directing traffic to those parking places, though. There is a very big lot on fountain street that can be renovated for atleast 100 parking spaces also on high street. The city can purchase a shuttle bus to transfer city workers to city hall and back to their cars when they leave work it can eliminate alot of traffic on main street. Also the city trucks that park in the street just to be closer in front and around city hall can be avoided as well…   more ›
