Forecasters are predicting thunderstorms will develop again this afternoon.
Thunderstorm enthusiasts rejoice: there is more severe weather on the way. The National Weather Service out of Taunton is predicting another wave of thunderstorms will hit Southern New England Wednesday afternoon. The severe weather is expected to begin around 2 p.m. as it heads east from New York. The NWS warns that some of the storms, which will go into the evening until about 9 p.m., may be severe at times – especially tot he north and west of I-95. The main threat from these storms will be damaging winds. Those with outdoor plans this afternoon and evening sould have a safe place to go, such as a vehicle or indoors, if the storms approach. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck my lightning.

Residents advised to monitor weather and seek shelter in event of hazardous weather.
The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Special Weather Statement for the possibility of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Thunderstorms have already been forming in Southern New Hampshire and additional storms are expected to develop across Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut and Northern Rhode Island during the afternoon hours. Some of these storms will produce damaging wind gusts, hail, lightning and heavy rainfall. The main threats will be gusting winds and heavy downpourts, according to the NWS. Residents should closely monitor weather conditions during the afternoon hours and take shelter immediately should dangerous weather develop.

Winds are expected to pick up to at least 30 mph in the afternoon.
The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for brush fires in the region Thursday afternoon and night. Counties across Eastern and Central Massachusetts and Rhode Island are under the fire warning. Winds are expected to pick up to at least 30 mph in the afternoon. The wind coupled with “low relative humidities” will cause the risk of fire, according to the NWS.

The dry weather and expected winds on Thursday afternoon makes it's potentially dangerous to perform open burning.
The National Weather Service warns of an increased risk of brush fires because of the extended dry weather conditions across New England. The NWS said the dry weather has created “unsafe burning conditions” with dead grass, leaves and brush at greater risk to catch fire. In addition to the dry conditions, winds may reach 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon, which could cause brush fires to spread. The NWS warned that most wildfires start as open burning by homeowners. The NWS said those who want to perform open burning must get a permit and: Clear the area around a pile of all flammable material Never leave the fire unattended Have a hose and tools like a shovel or rake Burn only natural vegetative material Call 911 immediately if the fire gets …

Gusty northwest winds are expected Friday afternoon.
The National Weather Service is again warning of elevated fire weather conditions developing Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday. Gusty northwest winds are expected Friday afternoon. The winds plus dry conditions will create a fire hazard, according to the NWS. Strong winds and dry conditions prompted the National Weather Service to issue a similar warning Wednesday. Elevated fire conditions will continue through mid-day Saturday, but winds should diminish in the afternoon. There is a “low probability” that southwest winds on Sunday will cause a wind advisory. People should exercise extreme caution when emptying ashes from wood burning stoves, using outdoor tools that create sparks and when discarding smoking materials. The …

Cold front expected to lower temperatures, create strong winds.
Welcome to Rhode Island, where, if the weather doesn't suit you, all you need do is wait a little while — and sometimes when you're perfectly happy with the weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of a strong cold front that will work across New England this afternoon, dropping today's balmy high-50s temperatures and creating some strong winds. There's an 80 percent chance of rain this afternoon, and west winds at 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph, between 4 and 7 p.m. today.

About seven inches fall in area, parking ban in effect through Saturday morning.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Woonsocket through 7 p.m., and a parking ban is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday, but people and traffic seemed unfazed by the steady flurries being blown around Friday. Some back roads had a coating of snow this morning as what proved to be a continuous series of wind-blown flurries settled in over the area for the day. Woonsocket appeared to have received the better half of the three to seven inches of snow predicted for the area for the day by mid-afternoon. Woonsocket Public Schools have canceled after-school events as a long, windy storm gathers strength over area skies, and National Grid has marshalled crews statewide for anticipated power outages. Other area cancelations include: National Grid reports it has secured more than 230 contractor line crews to assist regular company crews in restoring power, which could be interrupted as a result of the storm. Power outages were not much of a problem for the city during the February blizzard in comparison to the rest of the state, said Mayor Leo Fontaine, due to the Public Works department's efforts to aggressively prune trees threatening power lines. The last storm's two feet of snow has begun to melt away, and streets are clear again, but keep your shovels handy — the weekend is bringing us more white stuff. The local forecast calls for snow to begin Saturday afternoon, switch to a mix of rain and snow in the evening, and then return to snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service. It should continue snowing into Sunday afternoon, but snowfall estimates have not been made yet. The best chance for highest snow totals is north of the Mass Pike, but the threat for a period of heavy snow is a possibility throughout the region.
