Mount Delivers Christmas Baskets to 75 Needy Families in Woonsocket

School worked with Family Resources Community Action to help people enjoy the holiday.

Every year, Mount St. Charles Academy makes Christmas food baskets for families that are involved with the Family Resources Community Action group in Woonsocket. Throughout the Christmas season, the entire Mount community brings in food donations to fill each basket. Anyone can also take a child's name off of the MSC Giving Tree (whose family is receiving a food basket) and fill the baskets with toys as well. As the toys are wrapped, they  fill up Mr. Burke’s office, principal of Mount Saint Charles Academy, until the baskets are assembled. This year, Mount students, parents, faculty, and staff delivered baskets to 75 families. Deacon Anthony Gagliani, Director of Campus Ministry at Mount, said, “The Mount community’s generosity of time…

[VIDEO] Coventry Survives Marathon Game vs. Mount

Service error for Mount leads to Oaker win.

KINGSTON – In a match full of emotional ups and downs, the Coventry Oakers ultimately proved to be a bit more composed than Mount St. Charles, winning the fifth set 16-14. To win, Coventry overcame two players bumping into each other on a Mount serve at 14-13, which would have won the game for Mount. Coventry returned the serve, and an attack by Mount sailed out of bounds. With the game now knotted at 14, a volley between the two teams led to a service error by Mount. Coventry then ended the game with a kill by Kelsey Ferrara that Mount couldn’t block properly. Coventry will play East Providence for the state title at 5 p.m. Saturday at Keaney Gym. Mount St. Charles Finishing Renovation Project

Annual summer rehab of old rooms polished off this year.

Over the course of past few years, Mount Saint Charles Academy has been embarking upon a vast renovation initiative. The main focus of this project has been to update and revitalize Mount’s classrooms and laboratories which hadn’t really been changed since the school’s opening in 1924. Each summer, a selection of classrooms has been gutted and totally reconstructed. This summer, thanks to a plethora of designated donations, fundraising events, and a last minute gift of $200,000, the remaining 9 class rooms on Mount’s third floor are being renovated. The total cost for each room to be renovated is between $50,000 and $60,000.  When construction is finished, this portion of the renovation project will be complete with a total cost of $750,…
