Third RI Meningitis Case Linked To Ocean State Pain Management

Facility with offices in Woonsocket and East Greenwich linked to three RI cases of disease.

  A third person in Rhode Island treated at Ocean State Pain Management of Woonsocket, which has offices in Woonsocket and East Greenwich, has been diagnosed with meningitis in the nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak from steroid injections made in Framingham, MA. The case is the third in the state. The patient, a male in his fifties from Warwick, received a spinal epidural injection at Ocean State Pain Management on Sept. 22 from one of three contaminated lots, according to the RI Department of Health. The patient sought care at an area hospital today and is being treated.
