Robert J. LaForge: Lifelong Resident, Musician, Red Sox Fan

City man's funeral held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home.

  Robert J. LaForge, 83, of Grove St. Woonsocket, died Tuesday Nov. 27, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital, according to the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. Robert was the loving husband of 58 years of Evelyn P. (Malboeuf) LaForge. They were married on May 1, 1954.   Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Philip and Rose (Salvas) LaForge. He remained a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. LaForge was employed as a machinist and tool maker by the Mining Safety Administration in Esmond. He also previously worked for Taft Pierce Mfg. Corp. A talented musician, Mr. LaForge was a member of the 88th Army Band for 6 years. He also played the trumpet in local orchestras in the area for many years. Ernest R. “Ernie” Lambert: Lamberts Liquors Proprietor, Gardener

Woonsocket resident died Nov. 9 at home.

  Ernest R. “Ernie” Lambert, 61, of Woonsocket, died Friday evening at home, according to Menard Lacouture Funeral Home. Ernie was the loving husband of Linda A. (Zatonsky) Lambert. They were married on Sept. 4, 1971. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of Marie Marthe (Dery) Lambert and the late Eugene O. Lambert. He remained a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Lambert was employed by Stop & Shop Supermarket for more than 15 years. Ernie was well known in the area as the proprietor of Lambert’s Liquors on Hamlet Ave. He operated the business for over 24 years and took pride in his relationships with his loyal base of customers. Ernie wasn't only a Meat Raffle Chairman, he was the "Meat Nazi". He would sell his tickets from 4-7, wearing that flannel shirt. As soon as you walked thru the door, he gave you that look. It made you hand over the money. The "Cerle" will not be the same without him, he will be missed.   more ›

Robert J. Pierce: Vietnam Veteran, Retired Maintenance Worker

Woonsocket resident died at Landmark Monday night.

  Robert J. Pierce, 63, of Woonsocket, died Monday evening at Landmark Medical Center, according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Theresa Pimental. He was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life. Mr. Pierce served in the Army during Vietnam. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Pierce was employed in the construction and painting trades. He later worked in the maintenance dept. at Woonsocket Health Center prior to retiring.
