Woonsocket Man Wins $10,000 Mega Millions Drawing

Wiegand said he plans to make a donation to the Woonsocket Senior Center.

The $10,000 winning ticket from Friday's Mega Millions® drawing was claimed on Monday by William Wiegand of Woonsocket.  The ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball® number.  The standard payout for this type of win is $10,000. If he had chosen to play the Megaplier® option for an additional $1, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by 4 to equal $40,000. William turned 78 years old Sunday and said this was a very nice present.  He plans to donate some of his money to the Senior Center in Woonsocket that he often goes to. He purchased the winning ticket at Gulf Express at 852 Park Ave. in Woonsocket. The employees there are like family to him, he said, and he plans to share some of his winnings with them as well.

Woonsocket Joins Jackpot Outbreak

It may not be millions, but a city liquor store sold the top prize in an instant win game.

It doesn't quite measure up to $250 million, but Woonsocket joined the recent outbreak of local jackpot winners when a Roxbury, MA, man bought a lucky ticket at a city liquor store last week. Luis Gonzalez claimed a $40,000 top prize on the Money Flow Instant Game Monday. He bought the ticket at JB Liquors on Social Street. Gonzalez said he plans to use some of the money to go on a trip.  JB Liquors on Social Street in Woonsocket sold the winning ticket.   The state Lottery also paid out a $10,000 prize in Friday night's "Mega Millions" drawing. Two friends from Warwick and Riverside presented the winning ticket they bought at I.M. Gan Discount Liquors in Warwick. Tonight's estimated Mega Millions jackpot is $241million. Check out Patch …
