Police Log: Man Uses Brother's Identity To Avoid Misdemeanor, Charged With Felony

The following information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  Adam Tellier, 31, of Woonsocket faced a misdemeanor charge for driving with a suspended license during a Dec. 24 traffic stop, but used his brother Nathan's name, eventually adding obstruction and felony identity theft to his charges. Adam, whose license was suspended, provided Nathan's name, social security number, date of birth and license number when asked for ID. Unfortunately for Adam, Nathan's license was also suspended, and he was arrested under his sibling's identity.  Adam's subterfuge might've landed his brother in jail if Nathan hadn't been warned by a text from his brother's ex-girfriend that there were citations in his name in his brother's possession. Blackstone Man Pleads Guilty To Identity Theft Scam With Woonsocket Man

John Tropea, 59, of Blackstone joined Keith Huguenin, 33, of Woonsocket in admitting to fraud.

  A Blackstone man has joined his accomplice, Keith Huguenin, 33, of Woonsocket, in pleading guilty to stealing dozens of identities, which were used to pass forged doctors’ prescriptions at pharmacies and receive prescription drugs. John Tropea, 59, of Blackstone, has been sentenced in connection with the identity thefts, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley announced today. Tropea pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of Identity Fraud (76 counts), Obtaining Drugs by Fraud (76 counts), False Health Care Claims (40 counts), and Conspiracy. After the plea was entered Judge Thomas A. Connors sentenced Tropea to two-and-a-half years in the House of Correction with five years probation after his incarceration. Tropea was previously …
