Officer Spots, Arrests Man With Hit and Run Warrant Outside City Side

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  Woonsocket Police Officer Matthew Durnham was patrolling in the area of Market Square when he spotted Corey Lucchesi, 25, leaving the City Side Restaurant at 74 South Main St. at about 4:35 a.m. March 22. Durnham watched as Lucchesi crossed the street to the Market Square parking lot. The officer reported he knew Woonsocket Police had an arrest warrant out for Lucchesi for an Oct. 19 hit and run crash at 328 Cass Ave. and driving with a suspended license. Durnham confirmed the warrant with dispatch and then arrested Lucchesi with the assistance of two other officers. Durnham transported Lucchesi to Woonsocket Police Headquarters, where he was processed and  placed in a cell without incident.

Box Truck Driver Hits Car, Leads Owner, Woonsocket Police on Chase

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  A Cranston man faces charges of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and assault with a dangerous weapon after leading Woonsocket Police and his victim on a back road chase at about 6 p.m. March 9. Michael Levo, 41, was at his Transit Street home when he observed a white box truck (the driver of which was ultimately identified as Michael Collins, 46, of 63 Salem St., Cranston) strike his GMC Yukon on the driver's side.  He called police, got into his truck and followed him to the intersection of Park Avenue and Transit Street, pulling alongside the box truck and yelling at the driver to pull over. Police Log: Man Charged For Hit And Run With Car He Stole From Mom

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  On Feb. 11, at about 7:27 p.m., Woonsocket Police responded to 110 Beacon Ave. looking for Mitchell Cortez, 19, who was wanted on a District and Superior Court warrant speaking with his mother, Carmen Diallo, who provided them with the keys to the home. Inside, three officers found Cortez in the kitchen, in boxers and a white T-shirt, according to Officer Scott Breguet's report. He may not have been aware of how they gained entry to the building, since his first words were, "Where's the f****** warrant?" according to officer Linen Karsner's report.  Given the number of potential weapons in the kitchen and his history of fighting with police, officers took him to the floor, ordering him to put his hands behind his back. Police Log: Man Charged With Jan. 1 Hit And Run Of Woman

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  Woonsocket Police report a driver's failure to stop after striking a pedestrian with his car Jan. 1 earned him a felony charge on Jan. 17. At about 1:54 a.m. Jan. 1, Officer Christopher M. Bouvier responded to 233 Second Ave. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. When he arrived, Katelynn Dethsouvanh, 17, was lying on the front porch at the address, concious but crying, he reported. She and the group told Bouvier that a car had struck her as she crossed the street and left the area.  The girl's boyfriend described the car as dark colored with a loud muffler. Dethsouvanh was transported to RI Hospital, where she was initially diagnosed with a broken arm and other possible broken bones.  One of the people in the …

Police Log: Man Arrested For DUI, Hit And Run

The following information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  John Fitzgerald Morin, 47, of 51 Wood Ave., apt. 2 Right, drove Dec. 28 at about 10 p.m., since his roomate had a suspended license, but a Woonsocket Police report shows that wasn't the best distribution of labor. Patrol Officer Michael Velino was dispatched to Homestead Road that evening for a report of an accident with no injuries. When he arrived, he spoke with Brittany Jarrie, who said a yellow truck had struck her blue Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of West School Street and Prospect Street and didn't stop. She said she followed the truck to 21 Homestead Road, and pointed out the driver, who was sitting on a nearby stone wall.  Velino spoke to the man, later identified as Morin, noting his speech was slurred and his eyes …

Police Log: Hit And Run Driver Found Swerving On Cass Avenue, Arrested For DUI

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  Good Samaritan Ken Bertram called Woonsocket Police to report he was following a gray 2001 Volvo Dec. 8 at 7:43 p.m., reporting it was driving across the center line on Cumberland Street. Shortly after, Bertram reported the car, which police later determined was driven by Duane Gero, 33, of 10 Huntington Ave., Plainville, MA, had struck a gray Mercedes Benz and continued driving without stopping to check on the occupants. Officers were dispatched to speak with Bertram, the occupants of the struck car, and witnesses. Officer Andrew R. Girard located the Volvo near 115 Cass Ave., traveling at a low speed, and activated his cruiser's siren and lights, but Gero didn't pull over.  Gero continued driving, swerving over the center line in an …

Police Log: Hit And Run Driver Found Drunk At Home — "I'm Not Perfect"

  Angelo Luiz Perez, 47, of 175 Sixth Ave., apt. 2nd, told police "I'm not perfect," and that he had screwed up when Woonsocket Police caught up to him at home, finding his car bearing heavy front end damage and missing parts they'd found at the scene of a crash at 46 Sixth Ave. Nov. 12 at 2:47 a.m. Jon Nelson was outside his home in the neighborhood working at about 1:27 a.m. when he heard two loud crashes coming from Olo Street and Sixth Avenue. Nelson ran toward the noise and saw that a small sedan had struck a car at 46 Sixth Avenue. As he was watching, the sedan backed away from the car it had struck, detaching its front end from the the front end of the other car. Police Log: Hit and Run Driver Arrested After Knocking Over Motorcyclist

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  The law that says you've got a duty to stop after an accident doesn't give you a pass if you stop for a little while but drive off before police arrive. Woonsocket Police likely explained that to Andres Brito-Nunez, 20 of 154 Rathbun St. when they arrested him Oct. 26, at 2:12 p.m. at 645 Clinton St., charging him with failing in his duty to stop during an accident and driving without a license. On Oct. 21, police were called to the intersection of Clinton Street and Cumberland Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle that had driven away from the scene. Police spoke with the motorcycle rider, Keith Lambert, who was complaining of pain in his right ankle from the crash. Lambert said he was …

Woonsocket Woman Sentenced for 2011 Hit and Run

Betsy Feliciano sentenced to 10 years, one to serve, at ACI.

  Attorney General Peter Kilmartin has announced that Betsy Feliciano was sentenced by Superior Court Justice Netti C. Vogel today for a Jan. 2, 2011 hit and run accident. Feliciano, whose last known address is 485 Bond St., Woonsocket, was sentenced to 10 years, with one to serve at the Adult Correctional Institution, two to serve on home confinement and seven suspended with probation. Additionally, upon her release from the ACI, Feliciano will lose her driver’s license for two years and will also be required to have an ignition interlock system in her vehicle for two years. Feliciano pled guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, injury or death resulting, on Feb. 27, 2012. Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was …

Police Log: Hit And Run Driver Strikes Second Car, Then Stops

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  On April 23, Officer Joseph Zinni responded to the intersection of  John A. Cummings Way and Clinton Street for a motor vehicle accident with no injuries. Upon arriving, Zinni spoke with David Bouvier and Jessica Rageoutte, drivers who said each of their cars were hit by the same vehicle. Bouvier told the officer that a Silver Toyota Solara had struck the rear of his green Jeep at the intersection of Truman Drive, then left the scene and, as he was watching, also hit the rear of Rageoutte’s blue Dodge before stopping. Zinni next spoke with the offending driver, who identified himself as Jose Mojica. During their conversation, out of the blue, the driver told Zinni, “I got some warrants but it’s your job to figure out my name.” That …
