High Winds Predicted for Woonsocket This Afternoon

Cold front expected to lower temperatures, create strong winds.

Welcome to Rhode Island, where, if the weather doesn't suit you, all you need do is wait a little while — and sometimes when you're perfectly happy with the weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of a strong cold front that will work across New England this afternoon, dropping today's balmy high-50s temperatures and creating some strong winds. There's an 80 percent chance of rain this afternoon, and west winds at 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph, between 4 and 7 p.m. today.

It would be virtually impossible for everyone to follow the safe use guidelines for generators (must be run a min. of 20 feet from a home, etc.) in most of Woonsocket.   more ›

This is always a nice topic when it surfaces. Yes, we are all cussing out the power company because they are not there when we need them. What changed? IT WAS SOLD! Now you have a multinational corporation NGRID running the show and they are playing the corporate playbook on this state. They have closed offices, laid off personnel and consolidated operations all in the name of saving money. When …   more ›
