The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment Monday charging Jonathan Ortiz, 28 of 112 Coe St., Woonsocket, with one count of first degree child molestation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It is alleged that on or about dates between Sept. 1, 2011 and March 18, 2012, Ortiz molested a child under the age of 14, with the molestation being in the first degree. It is further alleged that Ortiz knowingly contributed to the delinquency of a minor. The alleged events took place in Woonsocket, and the Woonsocket Police conducted the investigation. Ortiz is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on May 22.

Ruling: Officers' actions complied with state law.
A Statewide Grand Jury has concluded its investigation into the June 14 Woonsocket Police pursuit of Anthony Lescarbeau, 33, that resulted in his death, clearing the department of any wrongdoing. Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office and the RI State Police investigated the fatal crash caused when Lescarbeau fled Woonsocket Police during a traffic stop. According to a release from the Attorney General's office, "The Statewide Grand Jury has determined that the actions by the Woonsocket Police officers complied with state law and determined that the actions of the officers were legally justified."
