Grand Jury Rules Woonsocket Police Justified In Pursuit Of Anthony Lescarbeau

Ruling: Officers' actions complied with state law.

  A Statewide Grand Jury has concluded its investigation into the June 14 Woonsocket Police pursuit of Anthony Lescarbeau, 33, that resulted in his death, clearing the department of any wrongdoing. Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office and the RI State Police investigated the fatal crash caused when Lescarbeau fled Woonsocket Police during a traffic stop. According to a release from the Attorney General's office, "The Statewide Grand Jury has determined that the actions by the Woonsocket Police officers complied with state law and determined that the actions of the officers were legally justified." Yes your right. There should be no civil suit. There should be an arrest. It was not just the police chase that killed Anthony. If you knew what someone did to him to make him act like he did. He never ran from the police ever. I like to tell everyone, but I can't say it on here. There is a lot more to this story, and it is not about what the Woonsocket police did. Claim in Anthony Lescarbeau's Death Alleges Officers Acted On Misinformation

Officials unable to comment as investigation continues, lawyer doesn't elaborate.

  The claim filed by attorney Ronald J. Resmini on behalf of the three minor children of Anthony Lescarbeau alleges Woonsocket Police acted on misinformation while pursuing the 33-year-old after he fled a traffic stop June 14, ending in a fatal crash. The claim, which Resmini has stated says the Woonsocket Police didn't follow the department's pursuit policy, asserts that the officers involved in the chase were provided with misinformation, "...resulting in actions above and beyond the standard..." (see copy of the claim attached to this article). Resmini has not elaborated on that part of the claim, failing to return calls seeking comment on what the misinformation was and how it's relevant to his suit. The RI Attorney General's office is…
