Earlier this year when Facebook changed to the new Timeline layout, Woonsocket Patch held a contest and let readers to submit photos that captured the spirit of Woonsocket to be used as the cover photo. We want to continue to highlight Woonsocket's artistic talent as the seasons change on our Facebook page. From now until Monday, Jan. 22, we'll accept winter-themed submissions for a cover photo for us to use on Woonsocket Patch's Facebook page. Whether it's a photo of a historic building or people just going about their day, we want to see your take on Woonsocket. Seventh grade class learns about cyberbullying from law experts for annual Law Day.
Two special guests at Woonsocket’s Hamlet Avenue Middle School spoke with Tonimarie Campopiano's seventh grade class Friday about internet safety and cyberbullying: Justice Michael A. Silverstein and Attorney George West. The appearance of the judge and the lawyer in the city classroom was part of the 2011 Law Day Classroom Participation program. Every year, law professionals participate in Law Day by visiting Rhode Island classrooms and speaking on subjects relevant to the students. The pair spoke to students about cyberbullying and the law, and about keeping safe when using communication technology.
