Woonsocket Police Seek Man For Firing Handgun At Car On Pond Street Sunday

Gunshots caused Pond Street crash, chase from scene ended in second crash.

  Woonsocket Police are asking the public's help in finding Anthony Lacoste, 21, with a last known address on Church Street, wanted on multiple felony charges after allegedly firing a handgun at a vehicle on Pond Street Sunday afternoon, causing it to crash into a telephone pole. At about 3:38 p.m., police responded to the area of Pond Street for a report of shots fired, according to a release from the Woonsocket Police Department. When officers arrived, they found a white 1999 Honda, driven by James Lambert Jr., had struck a telephone pole and had two bullet holes in it. Woonsocket Woman Cited In Crash That Cut Power To Diamond Hill Road Area

Driver who fell asleep at wheel before car destroyed transformers was not injured.

  A woman who fell asleep at the wheel early Sunday, crashing her car into a series of transformers and cutting power to a swath of the Diamond Hill Road area has been cited by Woonsocket Police. Bethany Paul, 27, of Woonsocket was driving a grey 2004 Mitsubishi Sunday at 1 a.m. on Diamond Hill Road when she fell asleep at the wheel, said Det. Sgt. Matt Ryan. Ryan said Paul's car collided with a pole and a series of transformers near the road, destroying three of the transformers. Ryan said the crash took out power to several homes in the area, some for a few hours, others for several hours. WJAR.com reports power was restored by 8:30 a.m. that morning. UPDATE: Man Killed After Driving Mustang Into Tree Overnight Identified

AG, State Police performing routine investigation into crash that killed Anthony Lescarbeau.

  Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office and the RI State Police are investigating a fatal crash overnight caused when Anthony Lescarbeau, 33, fled Woonsocket Police during a traffic stop. The driver of the red Ford Mustang was transported to Rhode Island hospital by helicopter last night and has since died, WPRI.com reports. Emily Martineau, spokesperson for Kilmartin's office, said the Attorney General and the State Police are conducting an investigation into the crash, which is routine under these circumstances. Martineau said last night, Woonsocket Police were making a traffic stop when the driver of the Mustang, whom Martineau would only identify as a 33-year-old man from the Blackstone area, fled, crashing into a tree. Woonsocket Pair Killed in Westport, CT Crash

Westport and Fairfield fire officials say the single-car accident's driver and one passenger survived the pre-dawn crash.

Westport and Fairfield fire officials say two people were pronounced dead on the scene of a pre-dawn accident Sunday after a single vehicle shot over a guardrail on Interstate 95 northbound between exits 18 and 19. According to the Hartford Courant's story on the crash, the pair are Terrance Bernard, 46, and Savannah Wakely, 25, both of Woonsocket.
