Police Log: Woman Arrested For Passing Funny Money
The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
On Jan. 21, at about 5:30 p.m., Woonsocket Police were dispatched to the area of Winter Street and North Main Street for a report of a woman passing counterfeit bills. When they arrived at the location, they meti with Keith Elliot, who said he had given a woman four $5 bills for a $20 bill, which he believed was counterfeit. Elliot said he had been traveling on Winter Street when a woman wearing a black hat and black/blue sweatshirt tried to stop him in the road and asked for change for a $20 bill. When Elliot exchanged his four $5 bills for the woman's $20 bill, he said it felt strange and appeared discolored.
