Mount St. Charles Pops Concert Draws Big Crowd
Outdoor performance featured fireworks, cannons.
The 2012 Mount Saint Charles Academy Pops Concert was held this Saturday on Mount’s lower field. There were 150 Mount musicians in attendance, the Rhode Island National Guard and the Artillery Company of Newport. Mount’s junior band, senior band, wind ensemble, and two jazz bands performed that evening. The date of the concert, May 19, coincided with Armed Forces Day, so the concert also hosted the Rhode Island National Guard’s Color Guard, paying tribute to all military branches through a very special presentation. The evening ended with a performance of the 1812 overture, accompanied by a fireworks display and cannons by the Artillery Company of Newport.
