Social Park Renovation Moving In "Baby Steps"
Plans to build splash fountains at the now-drained swim pond could take several years.
Renovation work at the long-abandoned state park on Social Street will begin this week, but at a slower pace than expected when ambitious plans were announced in June. By Friday, workers from the state Department of Environmental Management will begin digging up the cracked and buckled asphalt that covers the tennis court, which is slated to become a Little League field. DEM is also preparing to solicit bids from contractors for the new ball field project, according to state Rep. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, who's been campaigning to revitalize the park for several years. if this must be done instead of putting money into the education of our children for this run down town. then I think a skate park is a must, I think a wall for those creative artists to express their feelings like a blank brick wall that are specifically for people that want to do graffiti.. so they can stop doing it on buildings an cars. basketball court an maybe rutine visits from woonsockets …   more ›
