Police Log: Driver Knocks Down Tree On South Main, Charged With DUI, Dies

  UPDATE: Rhode Island Hospital reports the driver, Leo Villani, 54, of 149 Glendale St., Uxbridge, MA, died at the facility Jan. 6 at 6:45 a.m. Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home reports they have posted an obituary for him. Woonsocket Police were dispatched to the area of 564 South Main St. Dec. 28 at about 12:55 a.m. for a report of a car crash with injuries. According to Patrol Officer Joseph Brazil's report, he observed a black Ford pickup with its front end resting against a tree in front of the address when he arrived. Brazil noted the truck was facing as if it had been traveling outbound on South Main, which tire tracks in the slush confirmed. Police Log: Driver Charged With DUI Refuses Breathalyzer After Crash

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  On Nov. 23 at about 11:10 p.m., Woonsocket Police officer David N. Bibeault was dispatched to the Hamlet Avenue bridge for a car crash with no reported injuries.  When he arrived, another officer had already begun interviewing one of the drivers involved, William Morgan, 59, of 5 Brooke Road, Boylston, MA. Morgan said he was driving his black 2004 Mercedes in the right lane traveling over the bridge toward the traffic light when his vehicle collided with another car traveling in the left lane toward him. Morgan spoke slowly and forgot what he was saying several times, causing him to start over, according to Bibeault's report. Bibeault also observed Morgan to have bloodshot eyes, to smell strongly of alcohol and to sway in small circles …

Cumberland Hill Road Crash Snarls Rush Hour Traffic

Two cars damaged, lane leading toward city blocked briefly.

A two-car crash this afternoon at the intersection of Cumberland Hill and Mendon Roads at about 4:30 p.m. blocked one lane of Rte. 122/Cumberland Hill Road until two tow trucks arrived to clear the scene. Jason Baskin was working at the Cumberland Hill Road BP Station at the intersection when he heard a crash. He said he turned around in time to see each car rolling to a stop through the intersection. Baskin said one car was entering the intersection from Mendon Road and the other was approaching the city through the intersection on Cumberland Hill Road when they collided.
